School Attendance and Puncutuality

Regular school attendance is an important part of giving your child the best possible start in life. Going to school regularly is important to your child’s future. Children who miss school frequently can fall behind with their work. The government body that deals with school attendance is The National Education Welfare Board (NEWB) http://www.newb.ie/parent_guardian/index.asp

Schools are required to report absences in excess of 19 days. We require written notice of children’s absences.  On rare occasions,  parents/guardians may wish to take children out of school during the school day.  These should be kept to a minimum and parents should arrange medical and dental appointments outside of school hours (as much as possible). Parents who remove children from the school during the school day should go to the relevant classroom(s) are required to complete a short form.
