School History

Scoil Náisiúnta Naomh Micheál – Recent History

  • The school was officially opened in 1987 by the Minister for Education Mrs. Mary O’Rourke T.D.  It replaced the old school which had been build in 1904. This building now serves as the Upper Glanmire Community Centre and is administered by a very active  Community Association.
  • The school comprises eight classroom; four upstairs and four downstairs, a general purpose hall surrounded by a series of small offices and ancillary rooms,  staffroom and a library.  A corridor connects the classroom building to the hall/administration building.
  • In recent years, two prefabricated buildings have  been constructed; one houses a regular classroom and the other is a Special Education facility.

    The school is under the patronage of the Catholic  Bishop of Cork and Ross.

  • Scoil Náisiúnta Naomh Micheál is currently a fifteen teacher school along with five Special Needs Assistants, a caretaker and secretary.  The teaching staff is deployed as follows :-
  • Nine class teachers

  • Five Special Education Teachers (Resource and Learning Support).

  • Administrative Principal

  • Administratively the teaching staff is comprised of

      • An Assistant Principal
